TAMILNADU COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (TANCET - 2012)
(CONDUCTED BY ANNA UNIVERSITY)

Testdate: 31.03.2012 (Saturday)       Time: 02.30 p.m. to 04.30 p.m.

Eligibility:

• A pass in a recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration and obtained at least 50% (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) at the qualifying examination.
  (a) 10+2+3/4 years pattern with Mathematics at +2 level
           (or)
  (b) 10+3 years Diploma + 3 years pattern

• Candidates appearing for the final semester / year examination of the said qualifying degree course during April/ May 2012 may also apply for TANCET 2012, except AMIE.

Examination Centres:
The Entrance test will be held at the following cities:
1. Chennai 2. Coimbatore 3. Chidambaram 4. Dindigul 5. Erode 6. Karaikudi 7. Madurai 8. Nagercoil 9. Salem 10. Thanjavur 11. Tirunelveli 12. Tiruchirappalli 13. Vellore 14. Villupuram 15. Virudhunagar

Every effort will be taken to comply with the candidate’s choice for the Entrance Test Centre. However, any other centre may be allotted to few candidates due to reasons like nonavailability of space. In any case, a centre once allotted cannot be altered for any reasons.

Registration for Entrance Test:
The candidates can register for the entrance test in any one of the modes given below.

1. Spot Registration
   Candidates can appear in person at the Co-ordinating Centres with the following documents:

   1. Copy of X Std. or equivalent mark sheet

   2. Copy of XII Std. mark sheet or 3 years Diploma certificate

   3. Cash (or) Demand Draft.

   4. The SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu have to produce a copy of the permanent community certificate (card format) for availing fee concession.

2. Internet Registration
   Candidates can register through internet by filling-up the application form, download and send it to the mailing address shown below with the following enclosed:

   1. Copy of X Std. or equivalent mark sheet

   2. Copy of XII Std. mark sheet or 3 years Diploma certificate

   3. Demand Draft.

   4. The SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu should enclose an attested copy of the permanent community certificate (card format) issued by the competent authority of Government of Tamil Nadu.

Entrance Test Fee:

For candidates who register in person, a demand draft for Rs 500/- (Rs 250/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu) drawn in favour of “The Director, Entrance Examinations, Anna University,” payable at Chennai, obtained from any Nationalised Bank drawn on or after 23.01.2012 or cash, should be submitted along with the filled-in application, as the entrance test fee for M.C.A. .

The application form is common for all the Three Entrance Tests. Candidates have to submit only one application form.

A candidate applying for more than one programme has to pay Rs 500/- (RS 250/- for SC/SCA/ST candidates belonging to Tamilnadu) for each additional programme. A single demand draft is sufficient for one or more programmes.

Syllabi & Evaluation Scheme:
Duration of the Test: 2 Hours

The question paper will have the following sections:

1. Quantitative Ability

2. Analytical reasoning

3. Logical reasoning

4. Computer awareness

A few questions may also be on verbal activity, basic science, etc.
