Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to MCA for the year 2008-09. Admissions are based on Common Admission Test (CAT).

(Within Kerala): Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kalpetta, Kannur, Kasaragod, Kollam, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, Thiruvananthapuram, Thodupuzha, Thrissur
(Outside Kerala): New Delhi

M.C.A. offered by CUSAT and its recognized institutions. Any graduate with Mathematics as one of the main or subsidiary subjects or graduate in Electronics/Computer Science/Computer Applications/Engg./Technology with aggregate 55% marks in all subjects other than Languages and Humanities.
Candidates who have appeared/are appearing for their final qualifying examinations are also eligible to apply. Degrees obtained through distance education programmes other than through IGNOU are not recognized by the University.

Exam Pattern:
The aptitude Test for MCA (Test 501) comprises 150 objective type questions designed to Test the aptitude and capability of an applicant for pursuing the M.C.A programme. About 50% of the questions will be from Mathematics covering areas of Engineering Mathematics / B.Sc. subsidiary level Mathematics while the remaining questions will be to test the ability of the candidate in logical reasoning based on pictures, geometrical figures, patterns of words, Number Sequence, Set Theory, Logic decoding etc.Applicants for MCA, irrespective of whether or not they are applicants for any other programme, have to necessarily take the Test 501.

IMPORTANT POINTS AT A GLANCE

• Only Online applications will be considered for MCA Programmes.

• Fee Details:
  Mode of payment: Demand Draft taken from SBI and its allied banks drawn in favour of Registrar, CUSAT payable at Ernakulam only will be accepted.
  Rs. 750/- for General Category Candidates and Rs. 400/- for SC/ST Category (for 3 programmes)
  Rs. 5750/- for candidates who apply under NRI Quota (for 3 programmes)
  Rs. 3750/- for those opting Overseas Test centres. (candidates applying under NRI Quota need not pay this fee) (for 3 programmes)
  Rs. 100/- for General Category and Rs. 50/- for SC/ST Category for each additional programme exceeding 3

• The choice of the Test Subject/Test Centre is the sole responsibility of the applicant and the selections once exercised in the Application Form shall be final and irrevocable

• HOW TO REGISTER ONLINE

• Candidates are instructed to read thoroughly all sections of Key Information published in the website : www.cusat.nic.in. before filling up the application

• Candidates are required to fill in all details correctly (SC/ST, Communal /Special Reservation, under OEC etc.) failing which the claim under the said categories will not be considered at all.

• Applications without the Demand Draft will be rejected.

• Incomplete form will not be accepted by the system. Any error in the entries leading to the rejection of the application form shall be the sole responsibility of the candidate. Hence the form must be filled with the utmost attention without making any error.

• Instructions for Photograph and Signature Uploading :-

• Photograph

• If you are scanning photographs, adjust the scanner to scan at 100 resolution first.

• Fix the output format of scanned image as grayscale (not black & white)

• Scan the image to some image editing software like Microsoft paint/ Photoshop etc.

• Use “save for web” option to save the image as a JPEG file. No other format will be accepted.

• The image dimensions should be approximately 200 pixels (H) x 150 pixels (W)

• The file size should be less than 10 kilobytes (kb)

• For Digital Photographs

• Resize the digital photograph to 200 pixels (Height) X 150 pixels (width) first

• Use the “Save for web” option to save the file (Adobe Photoshop) in JPEG format

• Make sure that the file size is less than 10 Kilobytes (kb)

• Tip for reducing image file size

• If you are using image editing software like adobe Photoshop, please use the “Save for web” option to reduce file size.

• During “Save for web” option, save the file in JPEG format, “medium” compression quality

• Signature

• Adjust the scanner to scan at 100 resolutions first

• Fix the output format of scanned images grayscale (not black & white)

• Scan the image to some image editing software like Microsoft paint/ Photoshop etc.

• Use “save for web” option to save the image as a JPEG file. No other format will be accepted.

• The image dimensions should be approximately 80 pixels (Height) x 250 pixels (width)

• The file size should be less than 5 kilobytes (kb)

• If any entries are incorrect /missing, press the back button for going back to the entry form

• If the candidate is satisfied with the entries, press the ‘Confirm’ button for completing the registration process. Please wait for the Confirmation Page to be displayed and take two print out. Candidate should retain a copy of confirmation page for their reference.

Confirmation page of the Online application along with the DD should reach “The Director, IRAA Unit,Cochin University of Science & Technology, Cochin University P.O., Kochi - 682022” on or before the last date prescribed above either by Speed or Registered Post.
