Technology education is critical ecause technology is impacting life, living and living systems like never before. Thus, technology education is like a cradle to global leadership.India can exploit the spiraling need for technology professionals and change her economic and social landscape dramatically. India's present technology professional resource base is grossly inadequate. India will need to create ten times the current resource base to succeed in the knowledge economy.The Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT) is inspired by this vision of building intellectual competitiveness for India. |

Established in 1995 as a Trust with the overall objective of systematic and professional philanthropic interventions to promote and advance national welfare, social good and advancement of objects of general public utility. |
(Late) Dhirubhai H. Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Group, was the Patron Trustee of the Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation.
The main thrust of activities of the Foundation during the past nine years has been in the fields of education and health care.
Instituted Dhirubhai Ambani SSC Merit Reward Scheme, Dhirubhai Ambani Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme, and Reliance Kargil Scholarship Scheme.
Forayed into higher education in science and technology domain by promoting the Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT).
Joined the management of Sir Hurkisondas Nurrotumdas Hospital and Research Center, Mumbai and is committed to transform this into a health care center of excellence conforming to international standards.

Conferred the 'Man of the Century' award by Chemtech Foundation and Chemical Engineering World in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the growth and development of the chemical industry in India, November 2000.
Thrice (2000, 1998 and 1996) nominated as one of the 'Power 50 - the most powerful people in Asia' by Asiaweek magazine.
Awarded the Dean's Medal by The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, for setting an outstanding example of leadership, June 1998.
Conferred The Economic Times Award for Corporate Excellence for Lifetime Achievement, August 2001

Promoted by the Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation and the Reliance Group, in pursuance of a Memorandum of Understanding entered into with the Government of Gujarat, to impart information and communication technology education of international standards.
A non-profit educational society established in 2001 at Gandhinagar, Gujarat for furtherance of education, research, and training in information and communication technology.
Commenced activities from August 2001.

Recently, the Legislative Assembly of Gujarat has passed an Act granting university status to DA-IICT.

Programs and Offerings |
Aims to offer a whole spectrum of education, research, and training programs in information and communication technology at certificate, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.
Caters to the learning needs of students and researchers and continuing education requirements of working executives, practicing professionals, and government officials.
Launched the four-year Undergraduate Program in Information and Communication Technology from the academic year 2001-02 and commenced classes from August 2001.
The postgraduate and continuing education programs will be announced separately.
Research in emerging areas of information and communication technology will have a major thrust at the Institute and will be leveraged for all its academic pursuits.
