UTTARANCHAL UNIVERSITY

Location: College of Engineering Roorkee (COER) is located at Roorkee. The town of Roorkee is located on the national highway (NH-58) about 180 km north of Delhi. Roorkee is well connected by rail and road from Delhi and is called the GATEWAY TO HIMALAYAS. The COER campus situated on NH-58,just 7 km from Roorkee offers an enchanting site with over 100 acres of lush green pollution free atmosphere. Affiliated to UP Technical University and recognized by All India Council Of Technical Education (AICTE), the campus provides an enchanting sight on the busy highway that catches the eye of every passer by.

Library and Computer Center: A well-equipped Library is the backbone of any academic institution. Further, with rapid advancement in Information Technology the Computer Center is the basic requirement of a teaching institution.

COER Library stocks more than twenty five thousand books. The library comprises of the reference hall, the stock area with reading room space, the media resource center and the TBL(Text Book Loan Scheme) area. The library subscribes to a large number of newspapers, technical journals and a wide rang of magazines. The issue and return of books is through the computerized system.

COER is the proud owner of a modern central computer facility and a campus-wide computer network. There are two main computing facilities, the Computer Center and Computer Application Center (CAC). The Computer Center and computer Application Center both houses a large number of computers, which are networked using multiple high-end servers. The latest networking techniques are used for the campus wide network.

COER also boasts of broadband Internet Connectivity through a BSNL Leased Line 11 (512kbps) and COERians have facility of individual accounts to use the internet. A wide range of peripheral devices like Laser Printers, CD Writers, Plotters and color printers are available for use.

Academic complex: The academic complex provides the complete requirements of lecture rooms, tutorial rooms, staff offices for faculty and offices for the heads of the departments.

Student’s Centre and other facilities: The Student’s centre, houses, cafeteria-Quick Bite, health club, communication center, PNB ATM stationary shop and other facilities in sports and varieties of co- curricular clubs are in place.

All the faculty members are highly qualified and appointed on regular basis. The faculty is committed to professional growth innovation and empowerment.

Achievements and awards: The training imparted to COERains in various walk of life has shown encouraging results. Ms Juhi Bhatia(E&C-4th Year) Mr Abhinav Goel((E&C-3rd year) secured first position whereas, Ms Shilpa Tyagi (CS-4th year),Ms Neha Bansal(E&T 3rd year) secured second and third position respectively in UP Technical University Examination of session 2003 (Odd semester). COERains won several prizes at the “THOMSO-04”, Annual Hobbies Club exhibition – Srishti-2005. Technical Festival ENSARE cultural function organized by IIT, Roorkee, the student of COER are also encouraged to developed electronic devices of utility by developing their own circuits under the guidance of facility. An example of this is the PA system developed by Mr. Sanjeev Kumar and Ms Shruti Of B.Tech #rt year Electronics branch for boys and girls Hostels which has been installed and is being used effectively.
