The Indian IT Sector: Facing Manpower Challenges

According to recent NASSCOM estimates, the Indian IT industry will contribute 7 percent of the country’s GDP by 2009, providing direct employment to more than 2.2 million people and indirect employment to nearly twice that number.

The Indian IT software and services market is expected to grow to US$ 50 billion by 2009. However, NASSOM estimates suggest that the supply of skilled IT manpower may fall short of requirements by 2009.
